Solid forwarding service, will use again; complicated food import process (US)
I'm in the US and wanted to buy from a UK company that doesn't have affordable international shipping options. forward2me has a fairly streamlined online interface and helped me save about $70 on a 5 KG shipment of food items when compared with the merchant's shipping option.
Importing food to the US requires an FDA Prior Notice, which was more complicated than I expected. Thankfully, forward2me's support staff provided the documentation I needed to complete that step.
I deducted 1 star because forward2me didn't provide the necessary FDA Prior Notice guide as part of their web interface/process; I had to reach out to support to request it, then wait for them to respond. Then, there was an issue with the FDA documentation I initially uploaded, which made it through forward2me's review process. That resulted in a week-long US Customs delay because FedEx was waiting for the correct documentation, which I ended up submitting to them directly.
All that said, I will use forward2me again because their support team ultimately handled the issue well, and because I'm now familiar with the FDA Prior Notice process.
If you're importing food to the US, pay close attention to the guide and enter "TBD" in the Tracking Number field on FDA's site (placeholder value) so you can fully complete and submit the FDA Prior Notice Web Entry. When that's done, you can generate the summary page with a barcode, which is the document you need to upload to forward2me.
