Incoming Packages Need a Scannable Barcode to Be Processed

1 min read

Our warehouse intake is built on barcode technology. When a courier arrives, we scan their manifest and each package's barcode to instantly book it in and link it to your account. This is how we identify your package the moment it arrives.

Items sent by standard postage — like a plain stamped envelope or an "economy" letter — don't carry a scannable barcode or tracking number. Without one, we have no way to book the item in or link it to you, which causes problems:

  • We can't confirm whether the item actually reached us, or whether it was lost in the postal system.
  • If it's placed in a holding area, there's no digital trail to find it among the thousands of other packages.
  • We can't take responsibility for the loss or damage of anything sent without a scannable barcode or tracking number.

For this reason, please make sure anything sent to your forward2me address has a barcoded shipping label or tracking number.

How to Make Sure Your Package Can Be Processed

When you order, follow these steps so your package arrives with a scannable barcode:

  1. Choose a tracked shipping method. Even if it costs a little more, select "Tracked," "Signed For," or "Courier" delivery at the retailer's checkout — these come with a barcoded label.
  2. Check with private sellers. If you're buying from a private seller (for example on eBay or Etsy), message them before they ship to confirm they'll use a service that provides a tracking number.
  3. Watch out for economy options. Some retailers use "Standard Economy" or "Super Saver" shipping, which often lacks end-to-end tracking and a scannable barcode. Avoid these for international forwarding.
