If you love your smart home devices, this news is going to be music to your ears (quite literally!) Amazon is about to launch the all-new Echo Spot – the latest in their range of Alexa controlled smart room devices. So what is the Spot about, what does it do, when can you get it and when do you need to know? We provide the lowdown…

Echo Spot brings you everything you love about Alexa, in an all-new stylish and compact design that can show you things. With its round screen, you can see, hear and watch everything from video flash briefings, music lyrics and weather forecasts to ‘to-do’ and shopping lists.

Designed to fit anywhere in your home, the Echo Spot is quick and easy to set up The Echo Spot connects to Alexa, allowing you to access a whole world of information, entertainment and services via voice command. . Its second-generation far-field technology has four microphones, beam-forming technology and enhanced noise cancellation – meaning it can hear you from across the room—even while music is playing.

You can also control your compatible smart home devices using the Echo Spot. Turn lights on and off, show baby monitors / cameras throughout the house, control thermostats, plugs and much more – all without lifting a finger.

We also like the fact that you can personalise your Spot with a collection of clock faces to suit your style or set a photo background from Prime Photos. With the ability to make calls to friends and family between supported Echo devices / the Alexa App, or make video calls to anyone with an Echo Spot, Echo Show or the Alexa App, you can also connect to other Echo devices around your home.

The Echo Spot will be released for sale in the UK on 24th January but is available for pre-order now.  It will be available in black or white and is currently priced at £119.99. However, if you want to buy 2, there is a special discount code (SPOT2PACK) to buy 2 for £199.98.

Amazon has really been spoiling us in recent months with new releases of the Echo, Echo Plus and Echo Dot (2nd generation). The only problem is – which one to choose! There are subtle differences between each of the devices; with different capabilities and features across the range. Amazon have put together a really useful chart of all their recent smart home devices and the different features of each – you can find this here.

The other issue is that Amazon’s Alexa devices are only available for UK delivery from Amazon UK. No problem! Once you’ve chosen your device, simply place your order for delivery to our address.
