Amazon Prime Day 2022 – Date and Top Early Deals
Amazon Prime Day has become one of the most highly anticipated shopping events of the year, offering discount deals on thousands of products and services. After two years of pushing it back or moving it up, Amazon has just announced that this year it’s back to the original July schedule.
When Is Amazon Prime Day 2022?
Amazon Prime Day 2022 is taking place on Tuesday, July 12 and Wednesday, July 13, 2022. During the 48-hour shopping event, Prime members will be able to take advantage of hundreds of lightning deals on products and services, both from Amazon and third-party sellers. If you have a Prime membership, you may have already netted some of the early deals that started on Tuesday, 21 June.
What Is Amazon Prime Day?
Prime Day is a shopping event held annually by Amazon since 2015. It started as a celebration of Amazon’s 20th birthday and is often compared to Black Friday and Cyber Monday. The event’s duration has been increasing over the years from 24 to 48 hours, with Amazon typically opting for Monday – Tuesday or Tuesday – Wednesday slots in July.
This has only been changed twice: in 2020, Prime Day was pushed back to October due to the pandemic; and last year, Amazon held the event in June because of the Olympic Games.
How to Take Advantage of Prime Day?
Every year, there are certain trends that affect Prime Day deals but overall, these are the simple steps you need to follow for a successful shopping holiday.
- Make sure you have a Prime membership.
Prime membership is a prerequisite but if you haven’t had an Amazon Prime account over the last 12 months, you are eligible to create a new one and take advantage of the 30-day free trial. It’s a good idea to set it up at least a week in advance in order to be able to benefit from the Prime Day early deals.
- Create your lists.
Amazon lest you keep things nice and organized with a Wishlist, a Watchlist, and a Waitlist. Add items you’re interested in to your Wishlist; it helps you avoid impulse purchases. Download the Amazon app and allow notifications for items on your Watchlist – it will ping you when your deal goes live. If you’ve missed on a Prime Day lightning deal (deals available only for a short amount of time), the Waitlist lets you claim an item that another member has added to their cart but hasn’t gone through with the purchase.
- Use forward2me to shop from more locations.
Amazon Prime Day 2022 is a global event that will take place in more than 20 countries, and if you use forward2me’s services, you’ll be able to net the biggest deals during the 48-hour slot from three different locations – the UK shopping address, Germany, and Japan.
To benefit from the parcel forwarding service, you will first need to sign up with forward2me and get your new shipping address. Then, go ahead and visit the Amazon website you’d like to shop from and place your order using the address we provided as a shipping address.
Once your parcel has arrived at our warehouse, we will make sure it can be sent to your country and let you know in an email. When you receive our email, choose your preferred courier and pay the shipping fee. Your parcel will be on its way to you on the same day if you make the payment before 11am. You can expect a delivery in 1 – 4 business days after we’ve shipped your parcel.
- Look for credits and bonuses.
Another thing you can do while preparing for Prime Day is to stock up on free credits. You can find deals even now that will reward you with Amazon credit that you can use on Prime Day. For example, when buying from a small business, you get a $10 credit. And don’t forget to add any gift cards you’d like to use to your account prior to Prime Day.
- Use price trackers.
When you add an item to your cart, you usually have about 15 minutes before Amazon removes it. That’s plenty of time to do some quick research. There are sites that will do price tracking for you to give you an idea whether the discount price of the product or service is worth it.
- Look up deals from other retailers.
Other big retailers don’t like to be left out of the whole shopping extravaganza so many online stores will host their own events with special deals during Prime Day. It’s worth checking out and comparing prices with other websites to find the brands and items you love at discount rates.
What Will Be the Best Prime Day 2022 Deals?
Traditionally, Amazon uses Prime Day to make steep discounts on its own products, so this year, we expect to see deals on Kindle, as well as Fire and Echo devices. During Prime Day, Amazon is also known to offer its services like Amazon Music Unlimited and Audible Plus at discount rates.
However, there is much more to Prime Day than just Amazon products and services and many members use the sales slot as an opportunity to save on anything from consumer electronics and kitchen appliances to clothes and pet supplies. Some of the early deals include up to 40% off on Amazon eero Mesh Wi-Fi routers.
On Amazon UK you can find deals for 21% off on Apple AirPods Pro with MagSafe charging case while on Amazon.de some of the hottest deals right now include 32% off on Midea HW7.62 Cooker Hood and up to 20% off on Fisher-Price toys.
For reference, the top five best-selling products on Prime Day 2021 were:
iRobot Roomba 692;
Instant Pot Duo Evo Plus;
23andMe Ancestry + Traits Service;
Waterpik Electric Water Flosser;
Orgain Organic Plant Based Protein Powder.
This year, in particular, we may see a shift in consumer spending, given the increasing cost of living, while inflationary constraints may affect the discount depth. We’ll keep you up to date!
