New gadgets – phones

Some of the biggest technology news so far this year has been the launch of a new series of phones from Samsung.  In February, Samsung unveiled five new handsets, including their new flagship smartphone the S10, which has so far been released in a further two variations – the larger S10+ and the cheaper priced S10e.

A further 2 smartphones are on their way from Samsung over the coming months, including the S10 5G and the highly anticipated Galaxy Fold – the firm’s first folding phone. Just last month saw the release of the new Nokia 9 PureView. One of the headlines about this phone is its price – starting at £549, it undercuts the majority of today's top flagship smartphones from the leading manufacturers by some way. As the world's first penta-lens cameraphone, with five 12Mp cameras at the rear, it’s definitely worth a second look.

Other recent smartphone technology news includes the release of the Xiami Mi Mix 3 - the main ‘stand out’ of which being its all-screen, sliding design. Priced at £499, the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 has a host of high-end features but without the high-end price tag.

Another smartphone newcomer this year is the Honor View 20. With advanced features that include 48MP camera, 256GB of storage and a punch hole display, this phone also boasts a great battery life. The Honor View 20 starts at £499 in the UK.

It’s set to be a busy year for smartphones – with releases on the way including the Huawei Mate X, One Plus 7 and Google Pixel 3a all due before summer and a rumoured new iphone later this year. Watch this space!

New gadgets – gaming

We blogged about this one shortly after it was released back at the start of the year after many of our customers had taken advantage of our UK forwarding service to get hold of PlayStation’s Deluxe Kingdom of Hearts edition. The release was so popular, it sold out on its original launch as a pre-order. Now that the initial rush is over, it’s the ideal time to get your hands on this future-classic.

New gadgets – smart tech

Smart tech is still one of the biggest stories in technology news and we’ve seen yet more new products launch this year as our homes become ever ‘smarter’.

Smart fridge freezers are just one product that we’ve seen come to the mainstream market this year. Samsung has released its Family Hub fridge freezer range – available in three models (American style, multi-door and standard 380 litre).  Offering features such as a fmily meal planner, family calendar and calendar so you can see the contents of your fridge when you’re out shopping, the Samsung Family Hub fridge freezer range also comes with built in entertainment capability.

In the category of fridge freezers, we also like the LG InstaView – an American style fridge freezer that has a sleek mirrored glass panel that illuminates with two quick knocks, allowing you to see inside the easy access compartment without having to open the door.
