This week has been a pretty big week for tech, and in particular, for fans of Samsung Smart phones. At the company’s Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event on 20th February, five new handsets were unveiled. The company’s new flagship smartphone is the S10, which comes in a further 3 different variations. Additionally, a brand new luxury phone – the Galaxy Fold – was announced.

Let’s have a closer look at the new phones, their features and the important details of how and when you can get hold of them!

Samsung Galaxy S10

Probably the biggest draw of the new S10 for users is the 6.1-inch Infinity Display.  With a nearly-edge-to-edge look that stretches not only top to bottom but also over the phone’s curved edges, this phone takes visual display to the next level.

The new Galaxy S10 also has an Infinity-O screen – with this featuring across the device range.

In terms of cameras, the S10 range’s focus on its screen has meant a reduction in the size of its front camera – now only just visible as a small ‘punch-hole’ in the screen. To the rear of the handset, the phone has a triple-lens camera to take normal, telephoto and new ultra-wide photos.

As for the phone’s new ultrasonic fingerprint sensor – you won’t find it visibly on the handset as the sensor is now built into the phone’s screen.

Other features we love are Wireless PowerShare - which lets you use the back of the handset to Qi charge another phone.

The Galaxy S10 is available in 3 colourways and is being launched at £799 for the 128 GB and £999 for the 512 GB. The phone also comes in a number of other variations – the S10+ which starts at £899 and the cheaper priced S10e, starting at £669.  All of these are available for pre-order directly from Samsung UK for shipping on 8th March. Pre-orders placed before 7th March may also be eligible for a free gift of a pair of brand new wireless Galaxy Buds. There will also be a Galaxy S10 5G version of the handset – although this won’t be released just yet, with tech fans having to wait until 5G capabilities are launched in their territory.

Samsung Galaxy Fold

In a first for Samsung, the company also announced the launch of a brand new ‘luxury’ smartphone - The Galaxy Fold. Not yet available, the details around the phone haven’t all been revealed. What we do know, however, is that the phone will open up to create a 7.3in (18.5cm) tablet-like display, with the ability to run up to three apps at once.

Samsung have said they have custom designed a new hinge system that will withstand hundreds of thousands of folds and unfolds. The phone will also contain a battery on each side to extend its runtime.

Other details we know about the Galaxy Fold is its camera capability – the handset will  contain six cameras - three on the back, two on the inside and one on the front, so however you hold the phone, you’ll be able to get a good shot.
