As global consumers grow used to social media retailers must embrace new these commercial channels, says new study.
Social media is the future of online retail and technology has already transformed the global marketplace, according to a report by Pricewaterhouse Coopers (PwC).
The findings of the PwC study, called ‘Customers take control - How the multichannel shopper is changing the global retail landscape’ showed more than half (53%) of global consumers believe they will make more purchases online in the time ahead.
PWC encouraged retailers to act now and meet shoppers’ expectations rather than lag behind.
Alain Michaud, Canadian National Leader, Retail and Consumer, PwC, said: With more than 70% of customers engaging in multi-channel shopping, it's clear that the convergence of in-store, online and mobile shopping has arrived.
“Retailers who do not deliver this seamless experience and invest in the necessary changes to their business models, run a very real risk of losing market share."
