Forward2me has shipped loads of products this Christmas, but clearly a favourite was the Kindle e-reader!

The Amazon Kindle e-reader was the best-selling item this Christmas, according to the online retail giant.

The rival to the Apple iPad tablet topped the sales charts in America and beyond, establishing the success of the £89 Kindle in the UK, France, Germany, Spain and Italy where Christmas gifts flooded from the Forward2me depot.

According to an official statement released by the company, more than a million Kindle products were purchased and shipped each week in December, although no sales figures were given.

Commenting on the sales boom Jeff Bezos, founder and CEO of Amazon.com, said: “We are grateful to our customers worldwide for making this the best holiday ever for Kindle.”

Between Black Friday and Christmas Day the Kindle product range, which includes the Kindle Fire, Kindle Touch and non-touch e-reader, held the top three sales positions in the Amazon listings and gifting numbers were also up 175 per cent compared to the same time last year.
