Choosing the right Christmas presents for people can be tricky. All families have their 'difficult' people to buy for...At forward2me, we're here to help with some interesting Christmas ideas for the
awkward sods beautiful people in your life.
I'm going to do my best for you here. You might think that some of my ideas are a little obscure; perhaps you'll confirm the suspicion I have that I'm not that good at choosing presents for other people after all, who knows? I think it's safe to say that men and women have slightly different taste. I won't be buying my Dad a cushion or my Mum a new set of drill bits (unless they come in a very shiny case with a free diamond ring). So here goes:
Christmas List Ideas for Men
Aaargh...I haven't got any! Men are so difficult to buy for. All the men I know don't want very much and they like to choose their own stuff. In my experience, gifts that solve a problem or that are purely for fun go down well. On my list this year: Dog bingo, anything to do with Star Wars, Lego for grown-ups...Actually, take a look at Firebox for some unusual gift ideas- from the abusive balloons to the tin of 'Unicorn Meat', there are some cool ideas out there that are much better than mine. If I was feeling flush, I would start Christmas with their whisky advent calendar.
Beyond novelty gifts, take a look at Pure Luxuries for man-bags etc or John Lewis for anything tech related. If you have practical men in your life, take a look at the luxury gardening gifts at Greenhouse Sensation.
Christmas List Ideas for Women
Aaaagh... I haven't got any! Women are so difficult to buy for but for totally different reasons...Usually, there's just too much choice. Women like clothes, jewellery, makeup, chocolate, handbags, ornaments, tech, good books - so many different things but it has to be the right one! The clue is more to do with what we don't like getting as gifts. No food processors, irons, hoovers...you get my drift. Usually we want something that we wouldn't normally buy for ourselves - a treat, a luxury, something a bit decadent or different. Or a thoughtful gift.
Notonthehighstreet has unusual items. For luxuries, check out Molton Brown for luxurious toiletries, The White Company for scented candles and stylish bits and bobs, Liberty for iconic scarves and jewellery, Selfridges for designer clothing, Burberry and Mulberry for coats, handbags and purses and Jo Malone if you want her to smell amazing too.
For a more earthly budget, M&S has a good range of clothing and accessories. For something a little more exciting, try thegreatgiftcompany for everything from cashmere hats to dog's bottom coat hooks.
Christmas List Ideas for Kids
Kids are a lot easier; especially the youngsters. Read our blog on toys for more ideas here.
Christmas List Ideas for Pets
Well now. My dog gets a stocking and the difficult bit is hiding it from him. He knows as soon as I come in that I have something for him, and last year he unwrapped it himself. The gift I have spotted is more for us than him though - check out the dog lips toy rom Petplanet and you'll see why.
