A Christmas gift - the sales have come early!

As Christmas gets ever closer, we’re starting to see some of the retailers gearing up for the big winter sales. Although once known as the ‘January sales’, the trend for both online and physical stores is now to start their winter reductions earlier – with most now starting on Boxing Day, with a few notable ones beginning even earlier!

Here is our guide to the forthcoming sales, including key ones to watch and what to look out for!

Want to get ahead for next year? The prices on many Christmas gifts from retailers such as Boots and Marks and Spencer are immediately slashed to 50% as soon as Christmas is over. So if you’re organised, and want to get ahead for birthdays throughout the year or even next Christmas, you can pick up some ready-made gifts at a fraction of the price. For the best selection, you’ll need to get in early as these bargains don’t hand around for long.

Christmas decorations

If your festive decorations could do with a spruce up, there’s no better time to get ready for next year than just after Christmas. Keen to shift Christmas stock as soon as possible, you can pick up great deals on Christmas trees, decorations, lights, festive tableware and much more. Most retailers start with 50% off, with some prices getting cut even further into January. Argos and John Lewis have great festive ranges.

Winter wear

As one of the major sales events of the season, many retailers clear stock lines in the ‘January sales’ in time for new stock arriving for spring. For most of us, there are still a good few months left to make the most out of winter wear, so it can be a great opportunity to add some new pieces to your winter wardrobe.  For clothing and footwear for all the family, Debenhams, Very and Next have a lot to offer.

Many beauty brands produce Christmas gifts especially for the festive season, some of which are great value, even at full price! As soon as Christmas is over, the stock needs to be shifted, so prices tend to be cut. Many big name beauty brands such as Clarins, Clinique and Lancome are available to buy from UK department stores including Debenhams, House of Fraser and John Lewis.

Electricals and Tech

The Boxing Day and January sales are often associated with picking up bargains on home electrical goods and tech. For deals on large electrical items including washing machines, tumble dryers, dishwashers and ovens, check out Currys PC World and AO.com.  If it’s a smaller electrical item you’ve been holding out for, or a piece of tech, head over to Amazon to see what deals they have. Remember that John Lewis offer price match across the majority of their stock, so this can also be a good place to look.

All that’s left is for us to wish you a very Happy Christmas and a wonderful 2018 ahead!
