What attracts you to the UK online retail market?
Amazon.co.uk has topped a list of the most popular online retailers for overseas shoppers, according to a Forward2me survey.
The report, based on 10,000 customers of parcel shipping service Forward2me, also shows that increasing numbers of shoppers around the world flock to other UK websites including John Lewis, Marks & Spencer and Laura Ashley because of their uniquely ‘British’ association.
Many countries have a high population of British expats and anglophiles who spend millions online for a taste of the ‘British’ lifestyle. Forward2me’s UK boss Janet Grundy explains some of the findings:
“Perhaps the most interesting is number two on our list. H&M is of course a Swedish brand, yet it is its UK website that attracts shoppers from all over the world because the prices and range are better than in other countries. The same is the case for Apple, where shoppers simply search for the most competitive price and often find it in the UK because the world’s main internet search language is English.”
The top ten list:
- John Lewis
- Laura Ashley
- Massimo Dutti
Forward2me reports growth at a rate of 1,000 customers per month, because of the UK’s competitive online prices. Want to find out more, click here.
